Embracing August with Hambly Farms!

With seasonal changes come farm changes, too.
We’re excited for the plans we are making and hope you’ll enjoy what we’re cooking up!

Lavender U-Pick Season Comes to a Close

Monday was the final day of U-Pick season here at Hambly Farms and it was a bittersweet ending for us. We have had an incredible turnout and a wonderful experience opening our farm for the first time to the public to come, learn about lavender, and harvest some for home. We hope you have enjoyed all that Hambly Farms has to offer! While we are sad to be closing the season earlier than originally anticipated (it’s Mother Nature’s world, we’re just living in it), we’re already planning some exciting things for next season and hope you will join us again in 2024!

For updates on where you’ll find us next, keep up with us on social media!

Lavender Moscow Mule

August is one of the best months to enjoy nature. It’s a month full of BBQs, camping trips, and al fresco dining. With warm summer evenings still aplenty, we know you’re looking for a nice refreshing drink to sip on and share with friends. Let us introduce to you one of our favorite lavender-inspired cocktails, the Lavender Moscow Mule.
With sweet floral notes and a little zing of ginger, this citrusy cocktail is made for backyard hangs!

Lavender Moscow Mule - Makes 4 Servings

4 cups filtered water

2 ginger tea bags

2 tbs lemon juice

8 oz vodka, gin, or your favorite local spirit

Yes Cocktail x Hambly Farms Lavender Simple Syrup to taste

Sprigs of fresh lavender from Hambly Farms

Sip and savor this beautifully crafted, light and refreshing cocktail!

If you can’t beat the heat, use it!

Speaking of warm weather, how are your car temperatures these days?
Are you idling your car 5 minutes before you leave the house in order to give your AC time to kick on? Are your legs from sticking to your car seats? What are you doing about that hot aroma of the half french-fry-you-dropped-between-the-seats-last-week and half oh-no-I-forgot-to-take-my-gym-bag-into-the-house?

Here in Paso Robles, summers are hot and dry. And while it’s great for flowering lavender plants, the “hot car problems” are plentiful. Whether by happy accident or memory-impeding heat stroke, we can’t recall, but we left lavender sachets in a hot truck one time and now we do it on purpose! As an ironic coincidence, the heat you avoid is FABULOUS for your sachets and helps to bring the fragrant lavender oils to the surface, filling your vehicle with lovely calming aromas.

It won’t prevent your legs from sticking and it won’t keep your vehicle nicely cooled, but it WILL make your drive much more pleasant!
